Ellen Jeannette Stahler, 73, wife of 55 years to Stanley H. Stahler, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 24, 2015.

Ellen was born July 6, 1941 in Palmerton, Carbon County, Pennsylvania to the late Calvin and Helen Mase.

She was raised here with a younger sister, Linda D. (wife of Rollin Schew) of Slatington, Pa. Stanley and Ellen were married on August 8, 1959 by Pastor Robert J. Urffer in the Union United Church of Christ in Slatedale, Pa. They had four children Cynthia Stahler, who preceded Ellen in death, Sarah L. (wife of Jonathan A. Weaber) of Slatington, Pa., Jennifer C. Stahler of Bloomindale, NJ., and Paul Stahler (husband of Shelley) of Lehighton, Pa. She also had four grandchildren Samuel, Joshua, Karyana and Gabrielle whom she loved dearly.

Mrs. Ellen Stahler enjoyed raising her children, cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, vacationing with the camper and studying the bible. She was a member of the Walnutport Bible Fellowship Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and lead bible studies. She took courses from the Moody Bible Institute and memorized bible verses as a means to expand her knowledge of the Word. She was also involved in the Christian Women’s organization, where she participated in bible studies and women’s fellowship.

Sometime after retiring to Pelzer, South Carolina in 2001 Ellen and Stanley Stahler became members of the Bessie Road Independent Baptist Church. There she taught the Good News club and various bible studies. She was also a member of the Senior Fellowship group of Greenville, South Carolina.

The Family would like to express sincere appreciation to the staff of the McCall Hospice House of Greenville, SC for the care, kindness and love they showed Ellen and her family everyday that she spent with them.

Also special thanks go to the pastor and congregation of the Bessie Road Independent Baptist Church for the meals and visitations showered upon her family during this time.

Memorial services will be 2:00pm Saturday, March 7, 2015 in the sanctuary of the Bessie Road Independent Baptist Church. Visitation will be immediately following the service.
