Obituary for Katharyn Ellen Jones

Katharyn Ellen Jones, age 73, of Pelzer, and formerly of Society Hill, South Carolina went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 16, 2015.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Melvin “Woody” Jones; her three sons, Duane (Leslie) of Westminster, SC, Gentry (Rosemary) of Holly Springs, NC, and Jody (Michelle) of Wellford, SC; eleven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Ollie Francis Evans and William Daugherty Wilson, and seven siblings.

She grew up in Montague County, Texas, the youngest of eight children. As a young lady living in Avondale, Arizona, she would serve a cup of coffee to a brash young Airman A/3 who that day declared “I will marry you.” That fateful cup of coffee eventually lead her across the United States to end up living and raising her family in South Carolina.

She graduated from Rosenwald High School in Society Hill, South Carolina, in 1971, where all three of her sons would later graduate.

She was a member of Pelzer Church of God, Order of Eastern Star, Wade Hampton lodge #288, and retiree of Eastern Business Forms in Greenville, South Carolina.

Her family and friends will always remember her as a compassionate, dedicated wife, loving mother and grandmother. She will be missed greatly. This world has lost a Saint, and Heaven has received a member to the heavenly Choir, praising our Lord. May all that read this choose to follow in her steps.
