Obituary for William Bobby Chapman

William B. "Bobby" Chapman, 85, of Travelers Rest, husband of Billie Ruth Marsh Chapman, went to be with the Lord his God on Monday, May 11, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his family and friends.

He was a great husband, father, and fisherman. He was admired by all those who knew him and considered a hero by everyone.

He was born in Pickens County, the son of the late Willie Guy and Ethel Youngblood Chapman. He was a member of Cleveland First Baptist Church, and the owner of Commercial Welding Services in Greenville.

In addition to his wife of 65 years, he is survived by his sons, William "Mitchell" (Valerie) Chapman, Christopher (Candayce) Chapman; his daughters, Becky (Gene) Cartee, Laurie Hicks, Lisa (Donnie) Burnett; his brothers, Dumas Chapman, John Frank Chapman, his sisters, Jean Dover, and Mary Ann Cherkus, his 23 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Kindle Mark Chapman, and a brother, Thomas Chastain Chapman.

The visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Cleveland First Baptist Church, with the funeral service following immediately at 2:00 pm.

Interment will be in Cleveland First Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Open Arms Hospice.
