Obituary for William Henry Dilling

"William ""Bill"" Henry Dilling III, 67, husband of Marilyn Shigley Dilling, died Sunday, July 28, 2015. He was born in Gastonia, NC, to Udine Clark Dilling and the late Austin Dilling.

Bill was a 1969 graduate of Central Wesleyan College (SWU), and he received a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Furman University. He taught in the Greenville County School System for 33 years, was the 1983 Greenville County teacher of the year, and was one of the top five finalists in the state.

He was a faithful member of Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church and prior to that, Greenville First Wesleyan Church. He loved music and was devoted to the music ministry.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Austin Dilling. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 45 years, is his mother, Udine Dilling, of Greenville, SC, and his brother, Randy Dilling (Wilma) of Simpsonville, SC; his four daughters, Abbye Dilling, of Greenville, SC; Meredith Nix (Andy), of Birmingham, AL; Heidi Steakley (John) of Birmingham, AL; Heather Frey (Stephen), of Greenville, SC; and five grandchildren: Austin and Cambell Nix, Elizabeth Ann Steakley, and Benjamin and Evelyn Frey.

A memorial service will be held at Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, July 29, at 2 pm. The family will be receiving friends prior to the service at 1 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to MRPC (for ""Redeeming All Things""), Southern Wesleyan University, or a charity of one's choice."
