Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Elaine Ragsdale can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Elaine Mattie Ragsdale (Barnett)

Elaine Barnett Ragsdale, 90, of Greenville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 1, 2016.

Elaine was born in Twin Falls, ID to the late Ethridge and Lillian Barnett.

Elaine was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who found great joy in spending time with her family.

Elaine received her undergraduate degree from Furman University and her Master's Degree from USC Upstate.

A dedicated schoolteacher, Elaine retired from Sara Collins Elementary School. She was a member of Laurens Road United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years.

She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Roy Ragsdale; her children, Dina Ragsdale, Angie (Victor) McDade, and David (Ann) Ragsdale; her sisters, Mildred (Joseph) Taber and Willene (Delano) McMinn; her four grandchildren; and her four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Katherine Hurley; and her brother, Wayne Barnett.

The family will hold a private celebration of her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Laurens Road UMC, PO Box 5494, Greenville, SC 29606.

The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Open Arms Hospice for the kindness of their dedicated staff.
