Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of John Mikell can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

John Jasper  Mikell
John Jasper Mikell, 83, loving husband of Barbara Brown Mikell, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 12, 2016.

John was a 1951 graduate of Greenville High, and a 1955 graduate of Clemson University. He was an avid supporter of Greenville High and Clemson, and he tried hard to never miss a gathering with his friends.

He formerly owned Palmetto Overhead Systems.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, is his daughter, Laura Mikell-Bell of Taylors, SC; his granddaughter, Christine Marie Mikell of Wilmington, NC; his step-children, Scott (Beth) Daniel, Kim (John) Ford, Andrea (Michael) Freeman, Kari (Rob) Rice, and Carl Rice; and his step-grandchildren, Drake, Emmett, and Sally Freeman, Mirabel Carey, Blake and Blythe Daniel, Ryan, Cameron, and Catherine Ford.

He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Patrick Mikell.

A special thanks and with love and affection to Dell Foster and Tracy Phillips of Open Arms Hospice. Also to Paul Goldsmith, Jim Thomas, and Dick Lock, who made sure John got to Friday Morning Breakfast at the Dixie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Open Arms Hospice, 1836 West Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680.

The memorial service will be held at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 2619 Augusta Street, Greenville, SC, on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 11:00 am.
