Robert Adolph Curtin, "Bob", 91, of Mauldin, went to be reunited with his beloved wife and son on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at his home.

Born on June 4, 1925 in Suffield, Connecticut, Bob was the youngest child of the late Stephania Kleszczweska Curtin and William Henry Curtin, Sr. Bob grew up in Suffield with his four sisters and three brothers, and was active in the community there, on many building committees and volunteering with the Red Cross. He served his country in the US Army in North Africa and Italy, where he was injured in World War II, having received The Purple Heart for his sacrifice there.

After the War, Bob worked for Bigelow Sanford Carpets, eventually becoming the plant manager in Connecticut, before being transferred to Mauldin for Bigelow, later becoming Fieldcrest Cannon. Bob and his wife Mary raised their family in Mauldin. He is known in the neighborhood for his large, productive tomato gardens, and at the library for his love of reading.

The biggest joy in his life has always been being with his family. Bob went to all the sporting events for his children and many for his grandchildren, always ready to cheer them on. Children who grew up in the neighborhood will remember Mr. Curtin's front yard, which he regularly offered to them all for a sports playing field. He loved encouraging children.

Bob was predeceased by his cherished wife of 61 years, Mary Rowan Curtin, and his beloved son, Daniel Timothy Curtin. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Ruth Elizabeth Galloway, Mary Curtin Jackson, Gertrude Natalie Curtin, Frances Evelyn Riley, William Henry Curtin II, Frederick David Curtin; and Bob's twin brother, Albert Boyd Curtin.

Bob leaves his beloved daughter, Mary Curtin Hall and her husband Timothy Hall, and five grandchildren, Miranda and her husband Justin Holman, Samantha Hall, Alexandra and her husband Mitchell Lacer, Daniel Hall, and Nathan Hall, and two great grandchildren, Emery and Elijah Holman. Generous to a fault, Mr. Curtin was an admirable man and remarkable brother, husband, father, and grandfather.

The visitation will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 11:00 am at The Palmetto Mortuary, 300 Ben Hamby Dr, Greenville, SC 29615 ,with the funeral service following at 12:00 pm.

Interment will follow at Graceland East Memorial Park.
