She met Richard Eugene Irvin during WWII while caring for his mother. They married on February 14, 1947. After moving to New York, she gave up her career to have 5 children. She began private nursing as her last child started school.

She was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, as was her husband. They raised their children at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church and later became a Reformed Presbyterian. They spent their final years as members of Woodruff Road Presbyterian.

She remained absolutely adored by her husband until his death on April 2, 2017. They were married 70 wonderful years and will be missed by many.

The family would like to thank Interim Hospice, especially Amy, Heidi, Vicki, and Angela and Jen, Cheryl, Peggy, Kendall, and Danielle of Oakleaf Assisted Living.
