Obituary for William Watson Green

William "Bill" Green, 89, of Mauldin, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 4th, 2017.
He is survived by his daughters, Jane Stewart (Jody) and Faye Grooms (Dennis); grandchildren, Brian Grooms (Jean) and Cathy West (Nick); great grandchildren, Kaitlen, Nicole, Ashley, John, Leanna, and Shawn; and one great-great grandchild, Mason with another one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Doris Green and his parents Watson and Ethel Green.
Bill and his wife Doris, spent many of their days working in their garden. They grew corn and tomatoes, lots and lots of tomatoes. They preserved those tomatoes into soup, stewed tomatoes, etc. To accompany his tomatoes, he loved his Barbeques. He passed this love for working the fields to his grandson Brian. While Bill was a farmer at heart, he spent the majority of his working career with Greenwood Packing Company selling Carolina Pride at BiLo.
When he could be pulled away from work and feeding his family, Bill would take his love, Doris, square dancing. The family always spent vacations at Myrtle Beach. Even though Doris hated the sand, Bill had to go to the beach. While the family played in the ocean, he dedicated at least one day to deep sea fishing even though he hardly ever caught a fish. He and Doris served their Lord as long time members of Mauldin First Baptist Church. Bill was a lifetime member Mauldin Lodge Empire 213 and Hejaz Shriners.
