Obituary for Delia Ines Chavez (Garcia)

Delia Ines Chavez, 81, of Simpsonville, originally Bogotá, Colombia went to be with the Lord on
November 27, 2017.

She is survived by her loving children, Deacon Noberto 'Bert' Chavez (Martha), Pedro Chavez (Veronica), and Diane Mendoza (Fabio); adoring grandchildren Andrea, Andres, Cristian, Sebastian, Daniel, Laura, and David; and her siblings, Graciela, Elsa, Alvaro, Tito, and Hector.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pedro Pablo Chavez; and her parents, Misael and Ana Garcia.

A person cannot speak about Delia without discussing her love of cooking and entertaining. She loved to feed everyone, especially her husband and grandchildren. She was a devoted wife and knew her way into the heart of her love, cooking. The grandchildren recall the days of playing in the snow and then being served warm beverages and sweets to warm themselves back up. She brought her farming upbringing into the states by always having vegetables and flowers in her garden. Her food was not the only thing that kept family and friends coming back for more. She was the life of a room. Her sense of humor (sometimes sarcastic), is just as memorable.

She and her husband, Pedro, loved traveling together with the children.
Family trips were so filled with all the necessary tours and experiences that the kids needed a vacation when they got home. They also made plans to travel the world.
Their plans did not culminate in trips together; however, Delia made it a point to experience Europe, Mexico, the Colombian coast and other South American destinations with her children.

While she may have inherited her Garcia temper, she always took care of those she loved.

The prayer service will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church on
