Obituary for Robert Charles Shufeldt

Robert Charles Shufeldt, age 74, died in Greenville, S.C., on February 18, 2018. The son of the late Eugene and Margaret Warren Shufeldt, he was raised in rural south central Illinois. A graduate of the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana, Shufeldt also held a PhD in agronomy from Ohio State University.
Moving to Greenville in 1975 Bob worked in the textile industry testing dust levels in cotton mills throughout the Southeast for Texcon, Inc., and later for Health and Hygiene/ELB of Chapel Hill, NC.
A long-time member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Bob was active in men’s mission projects, the Gittings Prison Ministry, and operated sound and recording systems for church events.
Shufeldt is survived by his wife of 42 years Patricia Shufeldt of Greenville, one brother Warren (Gabrielle) Shufeldt of Springfield, IL, a nephew Gregory (Kate) Shufeldt of Indianapolis, IN, a niece Madeleine (Kevin) Esch of Providence, RI, a great nephew Charlie Esch, and close family friends the Westons and Dougans.
Following a memorial service at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2310 Augusta St, Greenville, SC, on Sunday, February 25, at 2:00 p.m., the family will receive friends in the church Atrium.
The family wishes to thank the many caregivers from Bon Secours’ St. Francis’ various rehabilitation services, the Bon Secours Cancer Center, Open Arms Hospice, and Comfort Keepers who assisted with Bob’s care and well-being during the past year.
