Ruth Britt Karn, also known as Betty, passed on September 26, 2018 in Seneca, South Carolina at the age of 93.

Ruth was born on June 1, 1925 in Oak, Florida to George Franklin Britt and Cora Overstreet Britt. Through her life, Ruth lived primarily in Farmville, Virginia; Annapolis, Maryland; Kissimmee, Florida; and Beaufort County, South Carolina.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Durham Whitaker, Jr., and husband, Ezra Leroy Karn; sons, Lloyd Durham Whitaker, III and David Lee Whitaker; daughter, Frances Shelton Whitaker; and granddaughter, Charlotte Ashley Atkinson; brothers, Wilbur Dorsey Britt and James Peter Britt; and sisters, Marnease Britt Abram, Gertrude Britt Rudd, and Margie Britt Marshall.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Whitaker Atkinson (Joe); son, William Britt Whitaker (Paula); grandsons, Stephen Britt Jenkins and Joseph Bryant Atkinson; granddaughters, Susie Jenkins Kiiffner, Jerri Jenkins Colyer, Alexis Whitaker Spinks, and Meredith Whitaker Rosh; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and ten nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service is planned for Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 12:30 in the Osceola Memory Gardens Chapel, 1717 Old Boggy Creek Road, Kissimmee, Florida. Interment will be private in the Osceola Memory Gardens Cemetery.

The Palmetto Mortuary, Greenville, South Carolina and Osceola Memory Gardens Funeral Home, Kissimmee, Florida are serving the family.
