Robert Frank Fortner, 88,
husband to the late Laura Rose (Taboas) Fortner,
of Westminster Retirement,
Greenville, South Carolina
Went to be with the Lord on
Thursday, April 18, 2019.
He is survived in life by his children, Russell B. Fortner (OH),
Catherine R. Hill (WA), Patricia D Spagnolo (SC),
Christine M. Sands-Tarjan (OH), and Pamela A. Kennedy (IN).
Grandchildren, Robbie Crisp (WA), David Ballew (Angela)(FL),
Kellie Figueroa (Edwin)(FL), Regina Decker (Shane)(SC),
Lori Deagostino (David)(SC), Anthony Spagnolo (Adrian)(SC),
Ryan Fortner (OH), Amber Fortner (OH), Justin Sands (Emily)(TN),
Jessica Sands (NC), Miranda Tarjan (CA),
Kevin Kennedy (Lauren)(IN), Brooke Kennedy (IN).
Great grandchildren, Christian and Maddy Ballew, Carlie Cooper,
Logan Crisp, Izzy Figueroa, Shayla, Haven, and Elijah Decker,
Hayden and Oliver Deagostino, Natalia, Gabriella, and
Lilliana Spagnolo, Kyla, Autumn and Halston Sands, Payton Sands and
Tinsley Fortner due in July, and Dominic Spagnolo due in September,
along with Cody Fortner (D-I-L), John Spagnolo, Mark Tarjan,
and Jeff Kennedy (S-I-L).
He is preceded in death by his parents Silus J. and Dovie Catherine Fortner,
sister, Bettie Vanhoose, and brothers, Samuel and Tally James Fortner. Daughter-in-law, Sheila Crisp, brother-in-laws, Joseph and Kerry Taboas, nieces, Linda Vanhoose Rhoades and Mary Taboas(Baby).
Robert was an entrepreneur who enjoyed spending his time racing, playing golf, baseball, bowling, and fishing.
Detroit Speedway named him
“Rookie Of The Year 1957”.
He will be remembered for being a wonderful
son, brother, husband, father, grandpa, and great grandfather.
The family will be holding a church mass on
Friday, May 17, 2019 at 8:30 am at
Our Lady Of The Rosary Catholic Church,
3710 Augusta Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
The interment will follow immediately afterwards at
Oakbrook Memorial Park,
3007 US 25, Hodges, SC 29653.
