Obituary for Alice R. Buda
Alice R. Buda, 71, of Greenville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 22, 2020. She was the daughter of the late Ernst and Magda Gosch.
She is survived by her husband Traian Buda; daughter, Charlotte Buda-Flagg; son, Christopher Buda; son-in-law Matthew Flagg and niece, Mette Poulsen.
She was preceded in death by her sister Jytte Poulsen.
"Hygge" (a Danish cultural concept and value of warm, happy coziness and togetherness, which people make time for in everyday life) was very important to Alice.
Alice was an original, a true Dane. The daughter of a sailor, who longed to be anywhere near the ocean. With a fighting spirit and winning heart, she carried herself with stubborn determination and fearlessness. As the core of her family, Alice brought and held everyone together. Blessed are the peacemakers... As full as her life could be, she was always generous with her loved ones in feelings and words, and she would make you feel special. Not only family, but the many friends she kept near and far. Even through the toughest times, she could make you laugh, or at the very least chuckle, with her sense of dark, ironic Danish humor. She had a funny view on most situations, and could make up a story on the spot about anything and everything. Her listening and advice will leave a painful void in many as she was always there.
Alice enjoyed travelling, reading, and cooking. As much as she loved the ocean, the explorer in her relished the idea of adventures in new far away lands. Of course she loved reading… and this was a great way to share stories and ideas with her friends while swapping and sharing books back and forth. As part of her adventurous spirit, cooking gave her a link to other cultures and places. She loved shopping for the ingredients and warily getting the opinion of her family. The lives of those left behind will be less rich without her journeys both real and manifested.
Visitation will be Saturday March 7, 2020, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Open Arms Hospice Chapel, 1836 W. Georgia Rd., Simpsonville, SC 29680.
