Obituary for Andrea Casolaro

Andrea Casolaro went to be with the Lord on January 25, 2023, and will be deeply missed. Andrea was born on December 15,1937 in Casoria, Napoli Italy to Flora (Cerino) Casolaro and Gaetano Casolaro. He grew up with two sisters, Adele Casolaro and Maria Casolaro; and two brothers, Lorenzo Casolaro and Alfonso Casolaro. Andrea is preceded in death by Carol Ann Sasso/Casolaro whom he married in Italy as a young man. He is survived by his four daughters: Flora Veneskey (Ron), Maria Thompson, Ann Minard (Chris), and Carol Bauman (Bill); as well as his nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and his brother, Alfonso Casolaro.

Andrea had a deep love for God and for his family. His favorite thing to do was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was affectionately known as Papa`,Nonno and Bisnonno. He loved to hear the children laughing, playing and running around him. Andrea loved children and he loved talking about his faith in Jesus. He enjoyed fellowship at Reconcile Community Church of Greenville, SC, where he attended.

Andrea was a gifted chemist retiring from Bayer Chemical. One of his areas of expertise was working with colors and dyes. He created many colors in the lab. He also worked for the airlines and was a gifted chef. He had a great appreciation for good food; He taught Italian cooking classes, cooked for family and friends and for various restaurants. He loved people and never met a stranger. Andrea was a great conversationalist and story teller. Wherever he went, he would draw people in with his wonderful story telling, his infectious smile, his bright eyes, and his endearing Italian accent. He was witty and fun and he loved a celebration. He loved dancing, telling jokes and laughing. If there was music, Andrea would always be found dancing and laughing.

In his own words he left us all a message of hope and joy. “I have Jesus in me and I don’t have a care in this world. There is another world after this life and I am ready to go when He decides.”

Private services will be held.
