Arthur Thomas (Tony) Lindsey, 73, of Greenville, SC, entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 15, 2021. Tony was born September 15, 1947 in Greenville, SC to Alvin and Louise Lindsey.
Tony lived in the Greenville area his entire life. After high school, he was drafted into the United States Army and served during the era of Vietnam. He was a driver to a Captain in the Army and received an accommodation for safety for protecting his unit when he saved a driverless Jeep from rolling over a cliff.
Tony worked in sales for Kraft Foods and retired in 2008 as a Senior Sales Representative.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Judith Burns Lindsey. Surviving also are his two sons, Glen Lindsey of Simpsonville, SC and Randy Lindsey (Dana) of Greenville, SC, and a bonus daughter, Angela Hamley Torres (Danny) of Blue Springs, MO. He was a proud grandfather to Gage Lindsey (Allie and daughter Rylee), Taylor Stribling, Parker Lindsey, Hannah Lindsey, Mikelle Secord (Cameron), Brooke Wright (Caleb), and Daniel Torres. Additionally, he had seven foster grandchildren Izayah, Zyahn, Jayde, Lydia, Esther, Killian and Kyler.
He is also survived by a brother, Jerry Lindsey (Bonnie) of Huber Heights, OH, and two sisters, Patricia Woodall (Wayne) of Decatur, TX and Linda Altom (Brian) of Piedmont, SC. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Billy Lindsey of Greenville, SC.
To know Tony was to know that he loved four things – God, Family, Barbeque and Krispy Kreme. He was a Master Judge and Marshal of many events in the upstate for the South Carolina Barbeque Association. If you talked to him for more than five minutes, one or more of the above topics would be included in the conversation. He was passionate about who and what were important to him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, March 19 at Life Restoration Center, 523 Old Easley Highway, Greenville, SC 29611. The visitation will be held from 4:00-5:45pm with the service following at 6:00pm
In honor of Tony, the family is requesting that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Life Restoration Center ‘Prime of Life’ ministry at https://www.lrcenter.com/newgive, as he always enjoyed the fellowship of this Senior-based Church association.
