Barry Arthur Koss, 70, of Simpsonville, South Carolina (formerly Brockport and Caledonia NY) passed away on Sunday, July 12th 2020.
Barry is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Sheila; and their children, Sarah (Jeremy) Bayer, Daniel Koss and Brian
(Ashton) Koss. He relished being an adoring “Pops” to his seven grandchildren that were truly the light of his life: Addy, Aidan, Emma, Clare, Charlotte, River and Jack. He is also survived by siblings, Diane(Dick) Lasch, Debbie (Mike) Ferris, Mike (Kelly) Koss and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Barry was predeceased by his parents Arthur Koss and Patricia Rabjohn, as well as, his best friend and faithful companion, his dog Baxter.
Barry will be remembered for his loyalty, retiring from the 3M corporation in 2010 after a 35-year career. His loyalty also extended to his favorite football team, The Buffalo Bills. Even though they never won the Super Bowl in his lifetime, he always believed that next season would be the year.
He will be remembered for his sense of duty. Barry was a Vietnam Veteran having served his country in the US Army from 1969-1972.
Most of all, Barry will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul. A lover of history. His children fondly remember the 300-mile detours on every family vacation to tour each Civil War Battlefield on the way.
He enjoyed the simple things in life. A tough day was easily whisked away while listening to music from his extensive record collection. He passed his love of sports onto his children as an active supporter of all of their activities. When the kids were not keeping him busy, he watched whatever sport he could find on TV. A man that always had a sweet smile, was generous and thought the best of everyone. He loved his family tremendously. His was truly a life well lived.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his
honor to LBDA.org (Lewy Body Dementia Association) or ASPCA.org (American Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).
