Obituary for Betty Doris Sheppard
Betty Doris Sheppard, 92, native of Greenville, SC, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 30, 2020. She was the oldest of eight children to the late Viola Tomlin and William Franklin Turner.
Though Betty enjoyed sewing and roller skating in the youth, going out to eat and napping became favorite things to do. Spending time with her family was her passion in life.
She'll be remembered for being generous with everything she had, her strong will to do the things she wanted, and loving her family with all her heart. She loved ice cream, and short phone calls to loved ones to make sure they were okay.
Preceded in death by her seven siblings: Edith Turner, Carolyn Turner, Barbara Turner, Janette T. Campbell, Nancy T. Grant, Ronnie Turner, and Joy T. Ware; and twin sons, Jimmy and Donny, she is survived by her daughter, Gail Sheppard; grandchildren: Heather Littleton (Stuart), Melinda and Elisabeth Winstead, and Donovan and James Sheppard; great-grandchildren: Abigail, Jolee, Emily, Zachary, and Sophia; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 4:00 PM Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Palmetto Mortuary, 1017 Mauldin Rd., Greenville, SC 29607, with Pastor Jeff Doughty officiating. The family will receive friends and loved ones an hour before the service, beginning 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
