Obituary for David Ralph Hocker
David Ralph Hocker, 65, of Simpsonville, SC went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 22, 2020. Born in Philadelphia, PA on August 2, 1955, he was the son of the late Robert William Hocker and Mary Jane (Campbell) Hocker.
Dave is survived by his wife of 43 years, Judith A. Hocker and his children Joshua D. Hocker (Jen), and Joel A. Hocker; four grandchildren, Joey Macklin , Preston Macklin, Jack Hocker, and Avery Hocker; his siblings, Dennis G. Hocker (Lynn) of West Wildwood, NJ, Susan H. Hartel (Edward) of Lititz, PA, William R. Hocker (Laura) Avondale, PA, Nancy H. Plank (Late George) of Springfield, PA, and Amy H. Giulian (Karl) of Stone Harbor, NJ; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dave is preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Helen Macklin-Hocker.
He was a 1973 graduate of Ridley High School, Folsom, PA, and then earned his BSBA degree from Shippensburg University, Shippensburg, PA in 1978.
Dave will be remembered first and foremost for his strong Christian faith and deep love for his family and friends. He was a true servant leader in life and in the Human Resources profession. Throughout his professional career, Dave earnestly cared for all his work families most recently here in SC, Bi-LO, C&S and Champion Aerospace. Soon to retire, he looked forward to and was passionate about new ministry opportunities to serve his church and the community at large.
He loved the game of golf, life in the South and most of all making memories with his family, especially his grandchildren. Dave's quick wit and sense of humor brought much fun and laughter to others. He had a profound effect on all those who knew him.
The family will host a Celebration of Life Service in the North Auditorium of First Baptist Church Simpsonville at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 12, 2020, 3 Hedge Street, Simpsonville, SC 29681. There will be no formal visitation, however, the family will be available after the service using social distancing guidelines. Masks are encouraged.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Simpsonville, or Habitat for Humanity.
