Obituary for David Eugene Smith
David Eugene Smith, 70, of Fountain Inn, SC, went to be with his Savior on Thursday, February 9, 2023. He was born in Greenville, SC to the late Otis and Gladys Smith.
David had a generous heart and a delightful sense of humor - he could make anyone laugh. He was a huge South Carolina Gamecock fan and loved car races. David enjoyed painting landscapes, watching horror movies, and canning fruits, veggies, jellies, and soups for his family. He also enjoyed mini-vacations, often traveling to the beach, the mountains, and/or the lake. David's loved his family more than anything, especially his granddaughter, who was the apple of his eye and a tremendous source of pride. He will be looking down on all of her accomplishments forever going forward.
David is survived by his wife of 47 years, Yvonne; daughter, Charlotte Blankenship; granddaughter, Ivy Vizueth (Juan); sisters, Brenda Boggs and Marylou Phillips; nieces: Tissie Reeves, Leshell Crouch, Renae Taylor, and Brandy Carroll; and nephews: Tony Epps, Vance Stewart, and Joe McWhite. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Douglas and Otis Smith; and sister, Evelyn McWhite.
Funeral services will be held 12;00 PM Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at Palmetto Mortuary, 1017 Mauldin Rd., Greenville, SC 29607. The family will receive friends and loved ones an hour prior, beginning 11:00 AM and will be at their respective homes before and following.
