Obituary for Diane Taylor Waldrep

Diane Taylor Waldrep passed away peacefully March 24, 2022, surrounded by the love of family and friends. Throughout her life, Diane faced many personal and health challenges, always with a positive attitude and a smile on her face. COVID-19 proved to be one obstacle she could not beat or endure.

She was born October 12, 1950 in Greenville, SC to Sarah Dill Taylor and John Randolph Taylor. Diane grew up in Greenville and graduated for Greenville High School in 1968. She graduated from Sullins College in Bristol, VA with a degree in Fine Arts. After college, Diane returned to Greenville. She worked at Garrison Opticians, then worked with her father at Clark Publishing. It was at Christ Church Episcopal School where she found her passion. Diane faithfully served the CCES Middle School as the Administrative Assistant for over 30 years, retiring in June, 2021. She greeted every student, parent and visitor with a friendly smile and a kind word. She quickly became a second Mom to many students and the go-to person for teachers and parents because of her love and compassion for everyone. To know her was to love her. Diane’s hobbies included making beautiful stained glass pieces and rescuing kitties of any kind.

Diane is survived by her son, Anderson Waldrep, and grandson, Stone Waldrep, of Greenville; her sister, Donna Crawford (John) of Flatrock, NC and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Sarah and Randy Taylor, a brother, Barry Taylor, her husband, David Carl Waldrep and her beloved son, Taylor Waldrep.
