Obituary for Dorothy Louise Griffith

GREENVILLE --Dorothy Keller “Dot” Griffith, 92, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2021 after a period
of declining health. Born in Greenville County on December 12, 1928, she was the daughter of the late
John Ezell and Mae Belle English Keller. On December 22, 1950, she married the late Charles Terry
Griffith Sr. before he deployed overseas with the U. S. Army. When he returned, they created a
wonderful and supportive family home. She retired from J.P. Stevens Monaghan Plant after many years
of loyal service.

A woman of Christian faith, Dot worshiped at Calvary First Baptist Church and daily lived the values of
gratitude, modesty, and kindness. She embraced motherhood naturally. Since she had enough to go
around, she spread love equally among four children, eight grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. If
she exhibited any pride at all, it would involve one or more of them. She loved answering to the names
“Gran” and “Gran Gran” and gathering the family at her house for holiday feasts.

Dot is survived by her daughters: Kathy G. Lloyd, Janine G. Pollard, and Karen G. Pittman, each of
Greenville, SC and her son, Charles Terry Griffith Jr. of Easley, SC, along with their families. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and her beloved sister-in-law, Esther Griffith Addis. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her younger brothers: Douglas, Donald and Darrell Keller; and by her first grandchild, Ashley Denise Kennedy.

Her family wishes to thank the caregivers who comforted her in final days—Lubby, Tiea, Hattie and
Gwen.

Because of COVID 19 restrictions, there will no public viewing. An outdoor graveside funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Friday, April 23, 2021 at Graceland Cemetery West, 4814 White Horse Rd., Greenville, SC 29611. Attendees are asked to observe COVID-19 protocols. A joyful celebration of Dot’s life will be announced at a later date. Contributions in her memory may be made to Calvary First Baptist Church, 11 Tampa Street, Greenville, SC 29609.
