Dova Duane Worthington sadly left this world on January 8, 2021. His larger-than-life absence has created a void that nothing can fill.
He was the youngest child born to William Howard ("Red") and Theresa Melba (Godfrey) Worthington in Welch, WV on July 22, 1958.
He was preceded in death by both parents, a brother (Truman Worthington), and a sister (Vicki Worthington Gillespie).
His departure from this world left many broken hearts: His two daughters that he raised as a single dad, Theresa Standifer (husband Josh) and Stephanie Weaver (fiancee Tristan Overmann); his three beloved grandchildren: Makayla, Ella and Colten, by whom he was affectionately known as "Granddaddy"; his devoted sister, Lajuana Cohen (husband Barry); extended family: and his many friends.
Dova's many military accolades reflect that he was a Marine to his core! He was tough, strong, resilient, determined, and yet sensitive, compassionate, immensely loving, generous, and self-sacrificing.
There are many grateful hearts who will fondly remember Dova for always being generously available to lend his "repair anything" skills. He was known to many as "Mr. Fix-It".
He was a jokester and derived much joy from making people laugh. He also loved animals, especially his cat and cherished wolves.
He often gave to the homeless, and would sometimes anonymously pay for meals for other restaurant patrons. He delighted in being a hero and rescuing those in need.
His wit, wisdom, and roaring laughter have sadly been silenced, but their everlasting effects are still very much alive in the hearts he lovingly and selflessly touched.
Dova has been released from his long-standing pain and burdensome physical body, but we know that his dynamic spirit can never be extinguished. Energy simply changes form.
We all recognize that death is the last step in life, but the dilemma is how do we live the rest of our lives without you?
The family will plan a private memorial service in the near future.
