Obituary for Eileen Jean Migiano (McGarr)

Eileen Jean Migiano, 77, of Moore, South Carolina passed away on March 19, 2020 after a courageous fight with cancer. Eileen was a member of the Jesus Our Risen Savior Church in Spartanburg, SC.

Born in Danbury, CT Eileen went to schools in Danbury and graduated with a degree in Business from Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, CT. Eileen was quiet by nature and humble regarding her accomplishments. Her husband and two daughters were very proud of the fact that she successfully completed 45 college credits in one year while working full time, raising two daughters and maintaining their home in Sandy Hook, CT.

Eileen was born to the late Helen and George McGarr of Danbury, CT on October 10, 1942. Surviving are her loving husband, Guido Migiano of Moore, SC; and loving daughters Nora Stamm and her husband Greg of Sandy Hook, CT. and Andrea and her husband Brian Lavery of West Haven, CT, and her two grandchildren Benjamin Lavery and Maggie Lavery of West Haven, CT; and her cousin Betty Cummings of Annandale VA.

Before retiring to the Carolinas, Eileen lived with her husband and children in Danbury, Sandy Hook and Roxbury, CT. While living in CT, Eileen worked at General Electric Housewares Division and Black and Decker as a Credit Manager, and subsequently as a Manager of Commissions for Verizon Cell Phone Division.

Eileen loved to travel with her husband and together they visited many European Countries as well as vacationing in several Caribbean Islands and a timeshare in Cozumel, Mexico. Eileen and her husband had many great times and wonderful memories. They always talked about how glad they were to have visited and enjoyed these beautiful places while still young.

Eileen enjoyed needlepoint and sewing her whole life, but in retirement, she became an accomplished knitter. Eileen was a member of the Spartanburg Knitting Guild. As a knitter, she volunteered her services for many years to knit warming blankets and chemo caps at the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System in Spartanburg. Eileen loved gardening, reading and was an accomplished cook. She loved spending time planning dinner parties for friends and family. When Eileen and her husband decided to retire and move to Hendersonville, North Carolina, many of her friends were upset because they claimed the best cook in CT was leaving them.

Eileen requested a simple Memorial Mass Service at the Jesus Our Risen Savior Church in Spartanburg, SC and a second service at Saint Rose Church in Newtown, CT. The Memorial Mass dates are to be determined.

Condolences can be sent to The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her or offered to help and pray for her during the difficult last year of her life.
