Obituary for Frances Nau Jones
Frances "Fran" Henry Nau Jones was born June 11, 1942, the only child of William "Buddy" C. Nau and Nan McCain Nau. She ended her earthly journey on March 5, 2021.
Fran will be remembered as a loving and supportive wife and mother, and faithful friend to all she met.
Fran attended public schools in Greenville, SC and was a graduate of Greenville Senior High School in the class of 1960. She then attended the Women's College at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Columbia College in Columbia, SC. Upon her marriage in 1962, she was the wife of a college student who later became a US Air Force officer and commercial airline pilot. After her children were school age, she spent a number of years in retail sales with Rich's Department Stores.
In the past few years, Fran had experienced unusual memory loss and in the past few months it was found that she had lung cancer that was incurable. She passed away at her home of the past 42 years in Simpsonville, SC.
She is survived by her husband, Mark W. Jones; son, Mark W. Jones, Jr. of Travelers Rest, SC; son, Samuel L. "Larry" Jones (Fran) of Salisbury, NC; daughter, Jennifer J. Gosnell of Greenville, SC; daughter, Leigh Boteler (Jeff) of Greenville, SC; and grandchildren: Benjamin Anthony "Tony" Olson of Greenville, SC, Matthew and William Jones of Salisbury, NC, Eli and Samantha "Sam" Gosnell of Greenville, SC and Sarah, Ryan, and Jack Boteler of Greenville, SC.
The family is especially thankful to the entire staff of Open Arms Hospice for their guidance during Fran's last days.
Services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
