Obituary for Frank Radich
Frank R. Radich, 76, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 25, 2020 at 3:45 a.m.
Frank was born in Tacoma, Washington on June 8, 1943 to Frank and June Radich, who instilled in him good character, a strong work-ethic, and the Christian faith. Upon graduation from Stadium High School, he attended Pacific Lutheran University where he met his wife, Janice, the love of his life, in history class. They pursued teaching degrees together and were married in the summer of '65.
After Frank earned an MA in Education from Arizona State University, he and Janice went on to teach school in Las Vegas. They moved to Seattle when Frank was asked to take over his father-in-law's glass company, North End Glass. Frank successfully ran the family-owned business for 35 years with his wife Janice.
Always eager to explore and utilize new technology, Frank purchased a Burroughs computer in the mid-1970's so Janice could work from home, making his glass company the first out west to do their bookkeeping on a computer. Frank Radich was a charter member and the first treasurer of the Washington Glass Association. He was also an active member of Seattle Executives for many years and served a time as their President.
As an avid reader, life-long learner and educator, Frank was intelligent, resourceful, and could always be counted on for creative solutions. Frank enjoyed encouraging and empowering people by demonstrating his faith in them and helping others gain confidence in their own abilities.
By the mercies of God and through the power of prayer, Frank was born again in 1995, and he and Janice began attending church for the first time in almost 30 years. Over the next 25 years God grew his faith through solid exegetical teaching from the Bible at church, Del Tackett's Truth Project, and J. Vernon McGee's Walk Thru the Bible.
After reading biographies documenting the faith of our founding fathers and a providential encounter with David Barton's Wallbuilders, Frank was both inspired and indignant. His patriotism and faith compelled him to herald the truth of our nation's godly heritage and to rally Christians to vote in the primary elections for candidates who would not compromise on biblical values.
Frank and Janice relocated to South Carolina where Frank, a devoted grandpa, enjoyed reading books to his three precious granddaughters, engaging in their homeschool education, and playing with them. Frank and Janice became members of Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC where they enjoyed great teaching, made great friends, and received love and support through their Sunday School class.
Frank was preceded in death by his beloved bride of 53 years, Janice Mae Rostad. Their marriage was characterized by mutual respect, admiration, and devotion. They shared enjoyment in reading, writing, boating, and motorhoming. For years they would end their workday by walking along the waterfront in Edmonds. Together they wore their signature hats, conversed easily with strangers, brought smiles and laughter to others, and enjoyed their family and friends. God's transforming grace brought repentance and faith as they walked through the Bible, prayed, and ministered to others. For those who knew them before, the changes were remarkable.
Frank is survived by his sisters Teri Radich (Ed Fijalka) of Federal Way, WA and Maryanne Howell (Timothy) of Tacoma, WA, his daughters Lisa Radich of Taylors, SC and Shawna Kelly of Simpsonville, SC, his son-in-law, Jeffrey Kelly, and three beloved granddaughters Rosanna, Renee, and Bethany.
Lisa and Shawna extend their heartfelt gratitude to the many people who helped them care for their generous, gracious, and loving father who developed Alzheimer's/dementia.
A private graveside service will be held for immediate family on Friday, April 3, 2020. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Samaritan's Purse who is responding to the international crisis of COVID-19 by bringing physical care and spiritual hope to those in need. www.samaritanspurse.org
