Obituary for Gary Melvin Moore
Gary Melvin Moore, 66, of Greenville, SC, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021. He was born in Asheville, NC to the late Irene Case and Tom Carson Moore, Sr.
Gary was an avid scratch golfer and golf instructor until his untimely cancer diagnosis. He was an active member of the PGA of America for over 25 years, and appeared on the cover of PGA magazine due to his outstanding performance in the PGA Business School for Club Professionals. Gary also maintained a successful real estate business with Century 21 Blackwell and Co. for over 13 years.
His always cheerful demeanor and contagious smile helped make everyone around him feel loved and special. Gary was absolutely devoted to his two wonderful children, whom he adored, Thomas "Beau" Moore and Madeleine Irene "Maddie" Moore. He is also survived by his sisters: Debbie Fowler (Bruce), Pamela Moore, and Geneva Parker (Roger); brothers, Tom and Carson Moore; his former spouse and dear friend, Scarlet B. Moore; his beloved Golden Retrievers: Tiger, Jake, and Eliza; numerous cousins and friends, whom he considered family.
A Celebration of Life service and reception will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the Cherokee Valley Amphitheater, 450 Cherokee Valley Way, Travelers Rest, SC 29690. He will be laid to rest in Green Hills Cemetery, Asheville, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Open Arms Hospice, 1836 West Georgia Rd., Simpsonville, SC 29680.
