Obituary for GS Franklin
GS Franklin, 87, of Greenville, SC, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Thursday, February 18, 2021. He was born in Pigeon Township, NC to the late Belle and Sherman Franklin.
GS was a Navy veteran and served during the Korean War. He was a Christian with a love of Southern Gospel music. He enjoyed fishing, and eating "one" meal a day - "all day long" (his favorite being cornbread, milk and onions).
GS was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Martha Lee Franklin; and brothers, Paul and Doyce Franklin. He is survived by his daughters: Teresa McAbee (Tobey), Loretta McDowell (Bryan), Deana O'Shields, and Chris Clark (David); grandchildren: Karen Osborne (Eric), Michelle Templeton, Michael Aikens (Jade), Jeremy McDowell (Stacey), Alex McDowell, Jessica Clark (Eli), Jonathan Clark, and Matthew Clark; great-grandchildren: Emily and Haley Osborne, Cameron and Madison Templeton, Abby, Gigi, and Layla McDowell, and Damian Aikens; he is also survived by his beloved grand dog, Sophie.
A Visitation and time of fellowship for family and friends will be held 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Harmony Fellowship Church, 468 South Suber Rd., Greer, SC 29650, with private graveside services being held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either Harmony Fellowship Church; or Traditions Health Hospice, 1700 John B. White Blvd., Spartanburg, SC 29301.
