Obituary for Hessie Graham James
Hessie Thomson Morrah Graham James, of Greenville, SC, born January 1, 1943, entered Heaven’s gates on January 15, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Hugh Zwingle Graham and Hessie Morrah Graham who have welcomed her home in glory. She is also reunited with her son Hugh Graham James, and granddaughter Tori Hope James.
Hessie had a passion for life, love, laughter, and beauty. She was well known for her love of animals, painting, and theater. She excelled in gardening and artistic floral design and was an avid sports fan.
She was a member of: The Hessie Morrah Garden Club, The Assembly, The McKissick Book Club, and the Junior League of Greenville.
Hessie leaves behind her beloved husband of 58 years, Thomas Sease James; sons LTG Thomas S James, Jr. (Chelle) and John William James (Christy); grandchildren, whom she adored, Thomas Sease James, III, Zachary Michael James, Madison Presley James, Beth James Davidson (Brendan), Karen James (great-grandson Andrew), and John William James, Jr; her brother Hugh Zwingle Graham, Jr., and nieces Anne Stuart Jenkins (Spencer), and Mary Elliot DeLoach (Joseph).
We’re especially thankful to our extended family, and her faithful and loving friends, for your love, support, and being a part of the rich tapestry of Hessie’s life.
Hessie had a deep and abiding love for the Lord and her family. She truly lives on and we look forward to the day we share her light again!

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
A private family graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery on Tuesday, January 19th. A Memorial Celebration will be held at a later date.
