Obituary for James Allen Guthrie
James "Jim" Allen Guthrie, 85, of Greenville, SC, went to be with the Lord Friday, March 25, 2022. He was born in Williamston, SC to the late Ruth Hiott and Paran Allen Guthrie.
Jim proudly served in the US Army. He worked as a manager at Ingles grocery store and for Rogers American Food Brokers. After retiring, he went to work part time for Palmetto Mortuary serving his community in a newfound way he truly loved. Jim was a Shriner Auctioneer and was a longtime member of City View First Baptist Church. He enjoyed listening to gospel music, traveling (especially on cruises and to the beach), and above all, spending time with family and friends.
Left to cherish fond and loving memories are his wife, Wanda Guthrie; son Scott Guthrie (Donna); stepson, Reggie Orr (Cynthia); stepdaughter, Melanie Wyatt; grandchildren: Jason Guthrie (Sarah), Haley Wyatt, Halston Wyatt (Kim), Hope Johnson (Kyle), and Joelee Orr; great-grandchildren: Bailey and Mason Guthrie, Kohen and Sutton Johnson, and Lucca Williams; sister, Faye Goodman; and a very special sister-in-law, Gloria Summey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Bobby Summey.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at City View First Baptist Church, 2300 W. Blue Ridge Dr., Greenville, SC 29611. The family will receive friend and loved ones an hour prior, beginning 1:00 PM. Committal and burial will follow the services at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson, SC.
