Obituary for James Phillip Nichols

James Phillip Nichols, 35, resident of Greenville, SC, went to be with the Lord Thursday, April
15, 2021. He was born in Silver Spring, MD to Doris Marie Ramsey, née Yauger, and Karl
George Nichols. James spent most of his life in Hickory, NC.
In addition to his father, James is preceded in death by his grandmother JoAnn Sollers Nichols,
and his grandfather Delbert “Yogi” Yauger. In addition to his mother and step-father, Mark
Ramsey, he is survived by his two sisters, Megan Nichols and Ashley Fleming, his brother in-
law Frederick Fleming, his two nephews Otis Davidson and Jayden Fleming, and his three
nieces Jayla and Aubriana-James Fleming, and Amelia Perez Nichols. James has also left
behind his Uncles Delbert “Deb” Yauger and Kirk Nichols, his Aunts Dawn Yauger and Dee
Nichols, his close cousins Tracy Nichols, Michael Nichols and Jesse Yauger, and the children
that he cared for, helped raise, and considered his own, Avery Scott and Kyler and Zayda
Davidson, as well as many more uncles, aunts, cousins and friends that he loved and adored.
James was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching hockey, baseball and basketball, but he
really loved football and screaming at the TV anytime his favorite team, the Washington
Redskins, were playing (and not doing well). He loved to cook, dance and watch movies. There
was rarely a time that James wasn’t singing or humming one of his favorite songs, and he was a
coffee “connoisseur”.
Funeral services are pending, and James will be laid to rest at Greenville Memorial Gardens
in Piedmont, SC. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Palmetto
Mortuary in Greenville County, SC or directly to their GoFundMe “Love and Support for James
Nichols’ family” organized by his family.
