Obituary for James Lloyd Sauls
James Lloyd "Butch" Sauls, 58, of Seneca, took his last bow on the earthly stage on August 4, 2020.
Born on October 20, 1961, in South Charleston, WV, Butch was the son of James "Bird" & Betty Sauls. He was a 1979 graduate of Hillcrest High School, where he was the band captain and head trumpet player. Butch became a brilliant musician and went on to play in many bands from the Nitro Express and Osmosis in the 70's and 80's to Thin Men, N2U and Beat the Clock in the 90's and 00's. Butch was an amazing performer and seasoned chef. Butch had previously been a chef at the Garden House Assisted Living in Anderson. His most recent employment was at Oconee Point Campground on Lake Hartwell. Butch loved to fish and his Clemson Tigers. He loved his family, both blood and chosen. Butch will be missed by all who knew him. The Heavenly band has a new member, and he is ready for his solo.
Butch is survived by his parents, James "Bird" and Betty Sauls of Fountain Inn, SC, three sons, William "Grant" Sauls of St. Joseph, MO; Max Sauls, and Gage Sauls of Anderson; a daughter, Gabrielle "Gabbie" Sauls, and a stepdaughter, "Maddie" Avery Altman, both of Anderson, SC; two sisters, Darla Moseley (Fred) of Longs, SC, and Jamie Ponder (Jeff) of Fountain Inn, SC; and three grandsons, Elijah Wade Williams, Zayne Sauls, and Draiden Tre Sauls. He had many special nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 14, 2020, at 2:00pm at Salem United Methodist Church at 2700 White Horse Road in Greenville. The family respectfully requests those attending the service to please wear masks and social distance.
