Obituary for James Benjamin White
James Benjamin "Ben" White, 91, of Greenville, SC, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 29, 2022. He was born in Plymouth, Montserrat to Maria Meade and John Henry White.
Ben is survived by his wife of 61 years, Albertha Eliza White (nee Ryan); sons, Lauriston Benjamin "Larry" White (Suzanne) and Delroy Benjamin White; grandchildren: Deshawn Marques Smith, Mrs. Kennedy Robertson (Hunter), Kassidy Jeanine White, Kenley Elizabeth White, Grant Ryan White, and Shane Benjamin White; great-grandchildren: Karsyn and Emersyn Robertson, and Keshawn Khalil Smith; sister, Rosemond Daniels, who lives in Canada; brother, John Samuel White (Gwen), who lives in New York; nieces: Giselle White-Savage, and Zania and Leona Hussey; nephews, Wayne Perrin White and Carlton Hussey; cousin, Edward Hussey; and many further extended family members and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joanna White; brother, Joseph Hussey; aunts, Beatrice Allen and Marylin Hussey; and cousin, Margaret Pierre (Randy).
Ben White was a man with the highest level of integrity, whose capacity for love was only matched by his honesty. He enjoyed gardening, reading, and watching baseball (NY Mets), cricket, boxing, and Westerns and War movies. He will be remembered as being a shining example of what a father and grandfather should be.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at St. James Episcopal Church, 301 Piney Mountain Rd., Greenville, SC 29609. The family will receive friends and loved ones an hour prior, beginning 11:00 AM. Committal and burial will follow the services at Graceland East Memorial Park in Simpsonville, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
