Jerry Calvin Hufflin, 76, of Anderson SC, passed away at AnMed Hospital January 26, 2021 at
8:25pm. He was born to William J. Hufflin and Virginia S. Hufflin on June 4, 1944.
Jerry was a man that loved his cars and driving fast. He began racing in 1968 at Greenville Pickens
Speedway. He went on to race in ARCA and NASCAR where he won many trophies. In 1974 Jerry
won Rookie of the Year. February 10, 1974 at Daytona International Speedway he started in 27th place, finished in 10th place and led 74 laps. June 9, 1974 at Salem Speedway he started in 30th place, finished in 18th place and led 43 laps. September 7, 1974 at Louisville Fairgrounds, International 500 he started 30th place, finished in 19th place and led 205 laps.
In later years he enjoyed spending his spare time working on cars and looking for his next fast ride.
Jerry is survived by his children: Dona Rivenbark, Elaine Holt (Preston), Ken Hufflin (Michelle
Kennedy), Calvin Hufflin, Cody Hufflin, Sammy Coursey (Tabitha), John Coursey (Princess), Susie
Coursey Cox, and Crystal Coursey Watson; three sisters: Gail Ellenburg, Ann McMurray, and Judy
Norris; grandchildren: Preston "PJ" Holt Jr., Jonathan Holt, Christopher Holt, David Rivenbark, Brittany
Kennedy, Jennifer Kennedy, Thomas Kennedy, Savanna Chastain, Montanna Chastain, Ethan
Harris, Kiley Carry, Jayden Coursey, Nina Coursey, Kayden Coursey, Romeo Coursey, Christopher
Coursey, Shelby Cox, Jonathan Cox, and Wendy Cox; great-grandchildren: Madison Holt, Jonathan "Jr." Holt Jr., Rosaleen Holt, Naomi Holt, Alora Holt, Preston Holt, Alexia Kennedy, Michael Kennedy, Ryder Kennedy, and Ivey Mitchell.
In addition to his parents Jerry is preceded in death by his brothers, Gary Hufflin and Joseph
Hufflin; grandchildren: Caleb Holt, Hannah Chastain, and Sabrina Lowery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 2, 2021 from 11:00 AM -12:00 PM in the Chapel of Palmetto
Mortuary, 1017 Mauldin Rd., Greenville, SC 29207; the funeral service will immediately follow.
