Obituary for Jimmy Dale Cothran Sr.
Jimmy “Jim” Cothran, 75, of Simpsonville SC, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 28, 2022. Jim was born in Honea Path SC to John and Lilly Cothran. He was a graduate of Ellen Woodside High School. Jim was retired from Kemet Corporation after 37 years of employment as a quality control engineer. He was a faithful member of Washington Baptist Church in Pelzer.
In his retirement years, Jim loved playing cards, specifically poker. He spent many days at the Simpsonville and Mauldin Senior Center playing cards with his friends. He picked his granddaughter up from School daily and they enjoyed playing outside, watching old tv shows, and playing cards. Jim enjoyed going to the theatre and spending time with his good friend, Ms. Pat. He loved to fish, the experience, more than the result. Jim always had a joke to tell, some funnier than others, and he loved watching old westerns.
Jim was predeceased by his wife and the love of his life, Jamie Hill Cothran, and is survived by his two children, Jimmy Jr. (Traci) and Jordan (Anthony), His Grandchildren, Blake (Katelyn), Hannah, and Emmy, and his great-grandchild, Colton. Jim is also survived by his brother, Johnny (Judy) Nieces Teresa, Tammy, and Camise, his nephew Milton, and a multitude of great-nieces and nephews. Jim had many friends and had a special place in his heart for each one of them.
Jim was a wonderful and loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and Friend. Jim loved and enjoyed his life, family, and friends and will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held Friday, April 8, 2022, at 1:30 at Washington Baptist Church Social Center, 208 Washington Church Road., Pelzer, SC 29669. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Greer Community Outreach Center, 413 E Poinsett St., Greer SC 29651.
