Obituary for Joel (Skip) Blair

Joel B. "Skip" Blair, 78, of Belton, SC, went to be with the Lord Friday, April 22, 2022. He was born in Tarpon Springs, FL to the late Lorraine B. and Joel H. Blair.

Skip graduated from John A. Gupton College in Nashville, TN with a degree in Mortuary Science before discovering his love for and subsequent career in sales. He was an avid reader of action and adventure novels and a verifiable Jack Reacher fan. He also was a TV enthusiast and enjoyed World War II history. Skip never met a stranger and in fact greatly enjoyed meeting new people, sharing stories, and making jokes. He was a Christian by faith and nurtured a deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Skip was a Master Mason and Past Master of Hamilton Lodge #403; he was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Anderson Chapter #130. His greatest love was his family.

Skip is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol Blair; son, Matthew S. Blair of Belton, SC; grandson, Matthew Bryce Blair of Boston, MA; and brother-in-law and dear friend, Eric Shank (Karen) of Lake Wales, FL.

He wished for his circle of family and friends to gather together and remember him with love and laughter. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital, www.shrinerschildrens.org.
