He made a habit of helping people, whether giving the shirt off his back or something as simple as a Chick-fil-A coupon. John refereed multiple sports (basketball, volleyball, soccer, and baseball), encouraging kids, parents and coaches alike to enjoy the game. Kansas City sports teams retained his allegiance. John was a simple but hard working man, who loved his family, friends and beloved dog Happy. He shared his sense of humor with everyone and took great pride in beating everyone to wish one happy birthday. He was a man of faith anchored to the hope of a life with Jesus Christ beyond this world. He will be remembered as a great father, friend, neighbor, citizen and employee.

Thanks to his many friends who came to visit at the hospital or hospice the last weeks he was with us. Thanks to Open Arms Hospice who made his last days memorable and comfortable.
