Obituary for Joseph Francis Connolly
Joseph Francis Connolly, 85, of Greenville, SC, passed on to his heavenly home Tuesday, August 18, 2020. Born July 21, 1935, in South Boston, Joe was the son of the late Joseph J. and Barbara Mullen Connolly.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, jeanie Mowery Connolly; daughter, Jacqueline Connolly; granddaughter, Briana Williams; and great-grandchildren, Kamara Couvillion and Kingston Corn. He was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey David Connolly.
Joe was a member and ruling elder of Providence Presbyterian. He retired from the US Navy with the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. He was a life member and past master of Mountain Springs Masonic Lodge #302.
An avid reader, Joe will be remembered for his commitment to his church, his lodge, and his family. There was not a better role model for the family when it came to love of God, family, and country. He was the life of any party. His smile went to eyes, every time. Joe loved life and it showed.
Providence Presbyterian will hold a service of Witness to the Resurrection in celebration of the life of Joe Connolly 10:00 AM Friday, August 28, 2020, 4000 SC-153, Greenville, SC 29611.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shriners Childrens,Hospital www.donate.lovetotherescue.org.
Because of the current pandemic, the service will be held on the lawn behind the church, with a limited amount of seating available. Guests also are invited to participate in the service from their cars by tuning into the church's FM frequency at 93.1 FM. In order to safeguard the health of all participants, anyone not remaining in their cars will need to wear a face mask.
