Obituary for Karen Kiernan Buchanan
Karen Kiernan Buchanan passed away Saturday 1/9/21 at Bon Secours Hospital. She is survived by her husband Michael Buchanan, her children Patrick Buchanan, Eric and Allison Buchanan, and grandson Lucas Buchanan.
Karen lived in Greenwood, SC for the last 33 years. She volunteered at the Bowers Rodgers reading stories to the children. She served in Cub and Boy Scouts for 15 years running the Cub Scout 270 Pack, Blue Ridge council Cub resident camp, and Scoutmaster of Troop 313 for 7 of those years. Always an avid learner, Karen spent much of her free time reading, researching, writing, and gardening. Her quick wit, laughter, and love of life will be gone but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to the Greenwood Genetic Center where she discovered her second family and worked for 26 years.
