Obituary for Kathleen Mary Class
Kathleen “Kathy” Class,79, of Spartanburg ,SC went to see the Lord with her sons and family next to her on December 2, 2022, She was the daughter of the late Julius Martin Class Jr. and Esther Bertha Winters of Lockport , New York, both preceding her in death.
Kathy is survived by her two sons, David W Fisgus (Cathy) of Inman, SC and Michael C. Fisgus (Shannon) of Boiling Springs, SC; brothers: Robert F. “Bob” Class (Elaine), James E. “Jim” Class (Sharon), and Roger C. Class (Gretchen); and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that loved her dearly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara E "Barb" Wurl (Norman); and brother, Julius M. “Bud” Class (Arlene).
She attended medical school in New York and became a nurse ultimately earning her Master’s degree. After finishing her college career she moved to Spartanburg, SC in 1972, where she continued her nursing career.
Kathy was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church in Spartanburg, SC where she loved to attend and travel with fellow cherished church members. She volunteered on mission trips to serve the Lord and put her talents as a nurse to good use. Along with travel she enjoyed raising a family, fostering kids, gardening in the yard where she would grow many, many rose bushes and cooking where she had an extensive collection of cookbooks.
She continued to work in various capacities for Spartanburg Regional Hospital up until retirement. She last served at the Hospice Home and Hospice Home Care.
A private family celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 9 with Pastor JoAnne Hull officiating. Immediately following the service there will be an inurnment ceremony where her ashes will be laid to rest.
