Kelvin Renard Young, 55, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Hospice of Clinton.
He was born August 20, 1965 in Clinton, SC to the late Clifford and Connie Young.
Kelvin is survived by his wife, Theopia Golden Young of Clinton, SC, Children Terrence Young, Clinton, SC, Katrina Golden, Augusta GA, Joshua (Da Vetta Golden, Woodruff, SC, Dontavius Spearman, Clinton, SC, Markvece Spearman, Mauldin, SC, and LaKenya Spearman, Simpsonville, SC. Six (6) siblings: Marlena “DeeDee” Young, Jacksonville, Fl., Eric (Olivia) Young, Newport News, VA, Darren (Josephine) Young, San Diego, CA, Kenny (Yolanda) Young, San Diego, CA, Reginald (Kathy) Young, Phoenix, AZ, and David (Deborah) Young, San Diego, CA. Brother and Sister - In -Law; Jimmy (Julia) Golden sr., Willie Jo Golden, and Dorothy Golden, all of Clinton, SC. Aunts and Uncles; Henry J. Jackson, Minneta Metz, David (Mary) Ferguson, and Deborah J. Brice.
Kelvin was known as “PaPa” to Eleven (11) Grandchildren. He has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Upon graduation from Clinton High School, Kelvin enlisted in the US Navy where he served from 1983 -1997 where he started in Jacksonville Fla., and ported to Long Beach, CA. Kelvin worked at Shaw Industries for several years and retired in 2019 as his health declined.
Kelvin was loved by many and respected by all who knew him, He loved watching old television sitcoms series such as “Sanford and Son” and “Gun Smoke” a true comedian at heart. He enjoyed singing gospel music and was a member of “Brothers in Christ” and “St. John All Male Choir”. He was also a Deacon at St. John’s Baptist Church, Cross Hill, SC.
