Obituary for Mary Frances Gray

Mary Frances "Frankie" Gray, 69, native to Greenville, SC went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, February 17, 2021. She was daughter to the late Viola "Mama Tap" Powell and Grover Ladson, Sr.

Frankie was preceded in death by her sisters: Catherine White, Mary Reese, Doris Pinson; and brothers: Fred Wornex, Johnny Ladson-Wornex, Grover Ladson, Jr., and Larry Ladson. She is survived by her daughters: Viola Marie Gray (Donald Sullivan), Francina Gray, and Jamica Gray (Franklin Buckley); son, Calvin Gray (Sophia Johnson); sisters, Elizabeth Davis, Barbara Ann Ellerbee; grandchildren: Tamara Webb (Mitchell), Shanteria Chandler, Quinnesia Gray, Franchesca Gray, Joy Gray, and Asia Gray; great-grandchildren: Nailah Gray, Kyra Marie Wall, Josiah Wall and Justyce Wall and King High; beloved canine companion, Rat-Rat "Rattas;"; special friend, Larry Stewart; host of cousins, nieces and nephews as well as other close friends.

Frankie enjoyed singing, dancing, decorating, shopping, cooking (her cornbread will be deliciously remembered), traveling, and crafting. She always spoke her mind and reveled in being the life of the party. She loved flowers and gardening and could often be quoted as saying, "Give me my flowers while I am living."

Her greatest joys were her family and praising and worshipping God. She was known to quote bible verses. Frankie was a member of New Pilgrim Baptist Church at an early age, Cedar Grove Baptist Church upon marriage, and recently joined Cathedral of Praise in Simpsonville, SC.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, February 22, 2021 at Palmetto Mortuary, 1017 Mauldin Rd., Greenville, SC 29607, with Bishop Tiangello Hill officiating. The family will receive friends and loved ones an hour prior, beginning 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers (see above), please make contributions to Palmetto Mortuary.
