Obituary for Mildred Irene Marlar-Cowan
Mildred Irene Moody Marlar Cowan, 85, of Duncan, SC, went to be with the Lord Sunday, November 29, 2020. She was born in Aiken, SC to the late Leona New and James Madison Moody.
Mildred worked in textiles for 25 years. She had a passion for music and was of the Church of God faith. She enjoyed cooking and had an affinity for fresh flowers. Strong, kind, and supportive, she will be remembered for her depth, fortitude, and great character. Above all, though, she loved her family.
She was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Robert "Bob" Marlar; sons, Robert N. and James A. Marlar; and her second husband, Jimmie Cowan. Mildred is survived by her daughters, Cheryl L. Staton (Andy) and Sandra Dill (Danny); daughter-in-law, Vickie Marlar; grandchildren: J. Wesley Staton (Stephanie), D. Casey Staton (Ashley), Amanda Marlar, Adrienne Smith (Shane), Amy Poor (Daniel), and Rob Marlar; great-grandchildren: Grace, Emily, Anna, Haiden, and Tanner Staton, and Kyle and Jaxon Smith; and special friend, Grady Douglas.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Palmetto Mortuary, 1017 Mauldin Rd., Greenville, SC 29607, with Chaplain Justin Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends and loved ones an hour prior, beginning 12:30 PM. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
