Monita was born on May 25, 1954 in Decatur, Alabama.
Monita grew up in a closely knit family with her mother, father, brother and sister. Her parents and family were hardworking and honest people.
Monita graduated from the University of Montevallo with a major in accounting and a minor in art. She was always artistically inclined and good at crafts.
She married Richard Lind on April 18, 1986, in Huntsville, Alabama. At the time she wed, Monita was the office manager of Huntsville Cardiovascular Associates. She had excellent managerial and interpersonal skills, enabling her to hold a highly stressful position with grace, and enabling her to keep the cardiology office running smoothly. She applied the same skills to her marriage and new family, and also applied them to church work, especially for the children.
Monita suffered greatly from the complications of her genetic disorder, Fabry disease. She experienced renal failure and had a kidney transplant at Emory University in 1998. The kidney had to be removed in 2017 and she was on hemodialysis until her death in 2021.
Monita loved God. She loved her family and she loved God’s people. She was good hearted and kind and never intentionally hurt anyone. All who knew her well appreciated her gentle and good spirit.
Monita was preceeded in death by her father, John Matthews and by her mother, Margaret Lorene Matthews. She is survived by her husband, Richard Norman Lind, her daughter, Abigail Lee Lind, her brother, Rodger Matthews, and her sister, Melissa Asherbranner, and their families.
Monita was a good person. As does all true goodness, hers came from the God she faithfully served. She will be missed.
