Obituary for Nancy Creel Winborne
Nancy C. Winborne (also Jacobsohn) died on May 29, 2021. Born in Sanford, N.C. on March 6, 1927, Nancy lived in Chapel Hill, N.C, in Spartanburg, and in Greenville since 1989. Nancy received her BA in Education from Madison College, (now JMU) in Harrisonburg, Va. She earned her MA in Teaching at UNC Chapel Hill in 1964. She taught middle school and high school in North and South Carolina and later earned her counseling certification at Converse College.
Nancy married Thomas Winborne in Chapel Hill in 1949. She loved reading, playing piano and listening to jazz standards, her Church and her family.
She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth (Beck) Winborne Sullivan, her son-in-law Patrick Sullivan, and her beloved grandson Benjamin Forrest Sullivan: a cousin, nieces and nephews, and many dear, dear friends. She volunteered at United Ministries, Greenville where Ben works and at her Church.
A Requiem Eucharist will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 910 Hudson Road, Greenville (29615) at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the St. Peter's Family Endowment in memory of Nancy.
