Obituary for Norma Jean Thompson

Norma Jean Thompson, born August 19, 1934 passed away on March 30, 2021, with her son and daughter by her side.

Norma was born in North August, SC, the daughter of the late Sidney and Leilawood Carroll. She excelled at many sports especially tennis, basketball and bowling. Retired since 2000 from her job at Southeastern Freight Lines in Greenville, her passions included, traveling with her late husband, Bill Thompson, on hundreds of Hejaz Shriner events and dinners throughout the Southeast, summer trips to Pawleys Island, baking her famous chocolate ship cookies and sharing time with her friends and family.

Surviving are son Ken (and wife Alison), daughter Jeanie Love (and husband Steve) and grandchildren Trevor, Renae, Chase, Stephen and Madison. She was predeceased by her husband Bill and her son, Stephen.

The amount of friends and caregivers who gave her so much love is a testament to how many lives were affected by her good humor, open heart and zest for life.

A graveside celebration of Norma's life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Greenville Shriners Hospital 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
