Peggy Jeanne Egan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was freed from the prison of dementia and returned to her Heavenly Father’s rest on July 24, 2022, at age 65.
She was born to the late William and Gloria Darley on January 16, 1957, in Redding California. After graduating from high school, Peggy followed her heart to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Houston Texas Spanish speaking mission. Following her mission, she moved to Salt Lake City where she met her husband, Ronald Egan. Together, they had five handsome, athletic, witty, talented, and delightful sons: Matt (Kelsie), Brandon (Tessa), Brian (Ashley), Jeremy (Katie), and Jared (Afton). She is also survived by her 16 grandchildren; brothers, David (JuNeal) and Bruce Darley (Judy); and sister, Laura Darley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Beth Darley.
Peggy loved spending time with her family and placed a high value on togetherness. She always made sure to be present in the lives of those she loved as she held the motto, “No empty seats.” Pictures of family and world travel adorned her lovely living spaces. She loved to play piano and fill her home with music. She walked the path of righteousness with faith and determination like the pioneers who crossed plains, mountains and streams. Most weekends were spent gardening, running boys to various sporting events, or taking the occasional refugee into her home for comfort.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Palmetto Mortuary, 1017 Mauldin Rd., Greenville, SC 29607. The family will receive friends and loved ones an hour prior, beginning 11:00 AM. A short graveside committal will follow the services at Graceland East Memorial Park in Simpsonville, SC.
