Pritchard L. Fortune, Jr., 91, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 9, 2021. He was surrounded by his family at his death. Born in Greenville, SC he was the son of P. L. Fortune, Sr. and Julia M. Fortune.

Mr. Fortune served in the Navy as a Petty Officer during the Korean War and retired from the insurance industry as President of Fortune Insurance Agency. He served in various churches as a deacon, church clerk as well as a member of various committees. At his death he was a member of Mauldin First Baptist Church. He served his community by being the chairman of the planning committee for the city of Mauldin, SC. He enjoyed wood working and spent hours outside working in his yard.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Marion E. Fortune of 72 years. He is survived by a daughter, Cathy Fortune Slenski, and husband, Patrick, and a son, Reverend Greg Fortune, and wife, Beth, six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Open Arms Hospice for the wonderful care and support that was given.

A private family graveside service will be held Friday, January 15, 2021, at 1:00 pm, at Greenville Memorial Gardens, Greenville, SC.



In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that everyone try to live as Jesus did. Donations may be sent to anyone in need.
