Obituary for Rebecca Austin (Vaughn)
Rebecca Vaughn Austin, 79, of Simpsonville, SC, went to be with the Lord Saturday, March 19, 2022. She was born in Greenville, SC to the late Margaret C. and Robert E. Vaughn.
Rebecca had a passion for flowers and enjoyed a successful career as a florist. She was a longtime member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School. She also volunteered with the American Red Cross, was a troop leader for Cub Scouts, and was a member of the JC's. Rebecca had a great sense of humor and was rather outspoken when it came to her beliefs, but it always came from a place of love. Her greatest joy was her family and the love she shared with them knew no bounds.
Rebecca is survived by her daughters: Margaret E. Crowe (Billy), Patti Austin Martin, and Ann Christopher Johnson; son, John T. Austin Jr. (Lisa); grandchildren: Jessica Corley (Jason), Joshua Martin, Tommy Crowe (Julie), Sally Owens (Troy), Sammy Crowe, Lauren Gamache, Lacy Johnson, and Emily Yount (Alec); and great-grandchildren: Billy, Asaph, Hattie Jo, Georgie, Moxie, and Major. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, John T. Austin, Sr.; and brothers, Eddy and Jimmy Vaughn.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, March 28, 2022 at Bethel UMC, 500 Holland Rd., Simpsonville, SC 29681. The family will receive friends and loved ones an hour prior, beginning 1:00 PM. Committal and burial will take place in the Bethel UMC Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
