Obituary for Richard Emery Elliott

Richard Emery Elliott, 69, died on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2019, at Windsor House in Greenville, SC. He was born on September 29, 1950 in Augusta, Maine, the son of Emery Ward Elliott and Gladys Irene York. He was preceded in death by his father, Emery, and his mother, Gladys. A memorial service will be held in his honor on Friday, November 15, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1301 Boiling Springs Road, Greer, SC. The viewing will take place at 4:00 pm, and the service will follow at 5:30 pm. According to his wishes, and when the weather permits, he will be buried in Bangor, Maine.

Richard was born and raised in Bangor, Maine. He had a happy childhood. On the family farm, he learned the value of hard work. After his high school graduation, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1971. After the Navy, he worked in various jobs, talented in accounting, he was a good accounts manager. After he retired, he enjoyed playing a variety of board games, teaching games to others and making friends in the process. He liked to win, but never to gloat, and he always played the right way. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Affectionately known as Dick, he will always be remembered for his happy, jovial, and friendly disposition. He made friends easily, and he always had a smile on his face.
